Vespa LX 50 4T

Yes, me.

I’m now a proud owner of a black Vespa LX 50, four strokes. Funny part: minutes after buying it, a guy (looked like one of the bike shop customers) turns to me and says “That’s a great machine, congratulations!”. Well, I have no idea if it is, and it sure looks good to me, but I can’t stop feeling I’ve entered a very exclusive club, or better, two exclusive clubs: motorbike owners and Vespa owners. And I just want it to commute, avoiding (most of) the traffic and not pay parking.

Next step: learn how to drive it.

A todos os pseudo-prós:

Já estou farto de ler traduzido “ingenuity” como “ingenuidade” e isto está mal. Vamos lá ver as coisas…

Epá, um podcast de um jornal pressupõe uma boa dose de profissionalismo. Então porque é que, na última edição, o player que têm na página toca as coisas estilo “chipmunk“? É só gravarem com uma frequência de amostragem diferente, calculo eu que tenha de ser um múltiplo qualquer de 11.025 kHz, ou seja, 11.025 kHz, 22.050 kHz ou 44.100 kHz.

Ever since my home computer fried, my computing habits have run amok. I listen to a lot less podcasts, my email is webmail-based, the im client is not on 24/7 and the feeds are delivered to GoogleReader. I also began using PortableApps a lot more.

I miss my trusty 6 year old pc, but I guess it’s time to get a new one, maybe one of those new dual something.

ps: just read the title as “homeless”, not as the “less” command…

Li há uns dias, na revista do ACP, que a Vectrix tinha agora um representante em Portugal. Para quem não sabe, a Vectrix fabrica… motos(?), motociclos(?) (nunca sei o termo certo), eléctricos. O ano passado já tinha descoberto um stand, em Lisboa, que vendia umas scooters eléctricas made in China, com um preço muito simpático, mas que não estavam homologadas em Portugal e ficaram na lista “ver mais tarde”. Agora com esta noticia das Vectrix, o interesse voltou. O preço é bastante menos simpático (+-€10000) mas, segundo o artigo, basta ter uma carta de condução B e a manutenção é zero, por isso talvez valha a pena.

Staying in a shitty hotel makes you appreciate the little details. For example, if the shower’s pressure is good, you tend to spend more time in it than you should, or if the breakfast’s scrambled eggs are good enough, that’s pretty much all you’ll have for breakfast. Everything to take your mind of the communist themed hotel which, I’m sure, they didn’t intend to have a “theme”…

Funny how some of the best food I’ve had in Poland is either Japanese, Indian or Mexican. At least the local beer is quite nice.
